Design-A-Week 33: A Family of Shredders Fight Global Warming

15 09 2009

Since the 1st of May this year I have been wanting to make a revolution/riot/Cuban/communist design just because I like the rigid, industrial feel it brings. The posters and pictures always have such a powerful “message”, so I thought I would give it a shot.

There’s not really much to this one – I just played and posted. I looked up Russian typography and learned that the alphabet is called Cyrillic. I also found a very useful site which turns your English word into an English word with Cyrillic letters – like the “Bonk” you see above. The faux Russian translator is the work of Jordon Kalilich and can be found here.

As I like to combine all aspects of the Bonk. Design, I am very proud of the Asterisk integration in the form of barbed wire. It’s not as affective as a communist star, but the asterisk we use to symbolize the universally admirable snowflake has a greater power of it’s own.

So, dear comrade, please check out the rest of the Design-A-Week project over at bonksnow.com!

Played while posting this post:
Empire of the Sun – Country
Wye Oak – Take It In
Old Canes – Little Bird Courage
The Temper Trap – Sweet Disposition
